Every summer, Challans takes a step back in time with its famous Antique Faira not-to-be-missed event in the Vendée! Organised by the Challans in the pastThis popular festival brings to life the atmosphere of an early 20th-century Vendée village, with its traditions, skills and conviviality.
Costumed as they were in 1910, hundreds of volunteers bring the streets to life: craftsmen, farmers, washerwomen, blacksmiths, peddlers... everything is there to immerse visitors in the daily life of yesteryear. You can discover forgotten trades, watch street scenes, sample local produce, enjoy folklore shows or horse-drawn carriage rides.
The fairs are held on four Thursdays in July and August, in the heart of Challans' pedestrianised town centre. A family outing full of charm and authenticity!

The Foire des Minées in Challans: the biggest festival in the Vendée this autumn
At the beginning of September, Challans is alive with the rhythm of the Minées Faira popular and festive event that attracts over 100,000 visitors over five days. Created in 1951, this major trade and agricultural fair is now one of the biggest in the Vendée.
Set up right in the heart of the town, the Foire des Minées combines agricultural exhibitions, producers' village, entertainment for children, street performancesand commercial stands in all areas: housing, well-being, cars, crafts, gastronomy... A large area is also reserved for breeders and farm animalsto the delight of families.
Each edition features a guest region or country, adding an original cultural and culinary touch. In the evening, the party continues with free concerts, fireworks and night-time entertainment.
