How to get there

For a start, the Île d'Yeu is only revealed after a journey by sea or air, adding a touch of adventure to your getaway. Climb aboard a boat and let yourself be carried along by the waves, an already memorable experience that marks the start of your day.

If you stay at Camping Paradis du Domaine de Bellevue, you're ideally located between the Fromentine and Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie landing stages. We recommend Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, just 26 minutes away by car. Once there, there are plenty of car parks where you can park in peace and quiet before setting sail.

🅿️ Free car parks near the pier

  • Rue de la Rabalette, 500 m walk from the pier.
  • Car park at the Ecole des Salines, rue des Paludiers, 500m walk from the pier.
  • The Douane car park, Place de la Douane, 500 m walk from the pier. Charge from 15 June to 30 September.

Departing from Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, you will embark with the Vendée company. The boat journey will take around 1 hour.
We strongly advise you to book your crossing in advance. In high season, departures to the Ile d'Yeu are very quickly snapped up.
Once you've booked your return tickets, you'll need to prepare for the day on the island!

Preparation

With its 23 square kilometres, the island of Yeu can easily be visited in a single day. To get the most out of it, the best way is to hire bikes on site. We recommend Yeuloc or Auto-bécane. Both are located near the pier. You can pick them up and return them easily before boarding your boat for your return to the mainland.

To make the most of your visit, here's our advice on how to prepare for it:

  • Bring a good pair of comfortable shoes
  • A bottle of water
  • A cap and, more generally, an outfit that you'll feel comfortable in
  • A rucksack, much more practical for carrying your belongings if you're cycling
  • With your swimming costume and beach kit, you're not safe from stumbling across a pretty little cove.
